controlyourface asked: People who rip off gifs and gifsets and edits are the actual worst. "But I found it on google, I didn't take it from your blog." Well yeah. You did. Did you know that stuff doesn't actually live on google? Google pulls it up from other places into search results. Like from someone's blog? abuse@tumblr(.)com is great about removing rip off gifs/gifsets. Just email them (from the email you used to register w/ tumblr) the rip off url and your original post url. Don't give up the fight.

This is VERY useful information—I’ve just done this and will do it again in the future if necessary, and I highly encourage those who’ve had their content stolen, whether it be a piece of art, a photo, or gifs, to do so as well!

weaselkins asked: Reposting gifs is like not crediting artists. In some cases it takes quite a bit of work to make them. And it is never nice to see someone else take credit for something they didn't make. And the position of a watermark doesn't matter, it is there.

Agreed, agreed! It’s just good manners!

Haven’t made a reaction gif in a while!

Haven’t made a reaction gif in a while!

gunfuddling-ouetz-cusping-butts asked: Not to sound like an ass but have you thought of maybe putting your name in the bottom of the gif... sahtiwaari does that,

You don’t sound like an ass at all, but I already add a watermark to all my gifs and edits—it seems it does little to dissuade people!

galileo-fornicatress asked: Your rant was completely justified. Re-posting a gif is the same as not giving the artist's source, but people, I don't think, see the correlation between the two. They've obviously never made a gif of their own, because if they saw how much work it took, I don't think they'd continue. I very much appreciate this blog and would hate to lose it! xx

Thank you so much! I really, really appreciate that and I’m so glad that people understand my frustration. Don’t worry, I don’t intend to EVER delete this blog, even if I were to ever quit using Tumblr. It’s given a lot of people joy and they don’t deserve to have that taken away just because of a few bad apples. And I’ll post more gifs soon too, it just makes me so hesitant to do it because I know it’s just a matter of time until a thief comes along!

Thanks again for your kind words, it’s people like you that make running this blog worthwhile!

In case any of you are wondering why I haven’t made any new gifs lately, it’s because I’m sick and tired of my gifs being stolen. I put a lot of time into making them—hunting down Vincent material, downloading it, then editing it in Photoshop—that all takes time and effort! And when people blatantly repost them without providing me with any sort of credit whatsoever, it not only angers me but it makes me feel disrespected.

I’ve seen plenty of people using my gifs as reaction gifs, and that’s totally fine! I don’t mind people doing that at all, I even made some for that exact purpose, and in that situation there is no need to credit me. But people are essentially stealing my gifs just so that they can get more notes and exposure for their blog, and it infuriates me because it isn’t THEIRS. If you want original gifs for your blog, learn to make them yourself. Otherwise, reblog!

I’m sorry for the rant, and in the grand scheme of things this isn’t a huge deal, there are more important things in the world…but I really care about this blog and I put a lot of work into it and I feel like it’s just being disrespected by thieves. I thank all of you who follow this blog for your love of Vincent Price, and who exercise good manners and etiquette!
